BONSERNEWS.com – DPR Deputy Speaker Muhaimin Iskandar asked Bank Indonesia (BI) to postpone the implementation of the QRIS service fee for Payment Service Providers (PJP) of 0.3 percent. The reason is, this policy can burden PJP and has the potential to impact MSMEs and consumers.

“I asked Bank Indonesia to postpone the imposition of the 0.3 percent QRIS transaction fee for micro. Return it to normal (0 percent). If this continues, I think everyone will be affected, not just service providers, but business actors, MSMEs, to consumers. must also be affected,” said the man who is familiarly called Cak Imin, Monday 10 July 2023.

According to him, service fees charged with the application of QRIS service fees can also hinder non-cash transactions. Even though the non-cash transactions that are being intensified at this time have high effectiveness and efficiency compared to the cash transaction model.

“Of course it will also have an impact on non-cash transactions, even though this is more effective and efficient than the cash payment system. Not to mention that MSME actors are just starting to wake up after the pandemic, don’t be burdened just yet,” he said.

As is known, Bank Indonesia (BI) imposes a QRIS service fee for PJP of 0.3% which will take effect from 1 July 2023. BI previously set the MDR QRIS provisions for MSME merchants to be zero percent. This policy is valid until the end of December 2021 and extended until December 31, 2022, then relaxed again until June 30, 2023.

“So I emphasize that it is better to postpone (the application of the QRIS service fee). It’s like we want to ride a motorbike so we can arrive quickly, but the tail of the motorbike is tied to a tree. Yes, it doesn’t work,” concluded Cak Imin. ()
